Rock Harbor Truth is a survivor-led nonprofit organization dedicated to truth, healing, and justice for those harmed by high-control religious and institutional systems.
Founded by survivors of the Community of Jesus and related networks, Rock Harbor Truth exists to bring light to experiences that were silenced for decades — and to ensure that no one has to walk the path of recovery alone.
We are storytellers, advocates, researchers, and community builders. Many of us grew up inside environments that blurred faith with control, devotion with obedience, and spiritual authority with unquestioned power. We know firsthand how difficult it is to name harm in systems that were presented as holy, safe, or beyond critique.
Our work is grounded in lived experience, rigorous documentation, and a deep commitment to integrity. We believe that truth is not an attack on faith — it is a foundation for healing.
Our Mission
Rock Harbor Truth’s mission is to support survivors of spiritual abuse, coercive control, and institutional exploitation through advocacy, education, storytelling, and access to care.
We work to:

Support Survivors
We provide trauma-informed resources, peer connection, and referrals to clinicians and legal professionals trained in cult and coercive-control dynamics. We advocate for expanded access to therapy, legal support, and survivor-centered services.

Preserve and Document History
We research, archive, and analyze public records, legal filings, financial documents, and survivor testimony to create an accurate historical record. This documentation protects truth from being erased, distorted, or rewritten.

Amplify Survivor Voices
Through podcasts, publications, and public storytelling, we create platforms where survivors can share their experiences with dignity, agency, and safety. We believe that telling the truth — in one’s own time and one’s own way — is a powerful act of reclamation.

Advocate for Accountability & Reform
We engage with policymakers, regulators, journalists, and legal professionals to promote transparency, ethical governance, and stronger protections for children and vulnerable adults. We work toward systemic change so future generations are safer.

Build a Community of Healing
Healing from spiritual and institutional abuse is not linear. It is relational. We cultivate spaces rooted in compassion, mutual respect, and shared understanding — where survivors are believed, valued, and supported.
Our Values
Truth Over Silence
We reject secrecy, minimization, and spiritualized denial. We honor honest reckoning.
Survivor-Centered Care
Survivors lead our work. Their voices guide our priorities.
Integrity and Accuracy
Our advocacy is grounded in verified records, careful research, and responsible reporting.
Compassion Without Complicity
We believe in empathy that does not excuse harm.
Hope Through Accountability
Real healing is possible when truth is named and responsibility is taken.
Our Vision
We envision a world where:
We believe that light—once reclaimed—has the power to transform lives, communities, and systems.
Why Rock Harbor Truth?
Rock Harbor — Reflects both place and metaphor: a harbor should be a place of safety, refuge, and return. For too many, it was not.
Truth — Is the path forward.
Together, they represent our commitment to reclaiming what was meant to be safe . . . and rebuilding it with honesty, accountability, and care.
