The Community Walk for Truth
What happened on Friday is just the beginning.
On Friday, something powerful happened here on Cape Cod.
A group of concerned citizens and survivors came together for a peaceful Community Walk for Truth — and what may have looked like a simple gathering was, in reality, something much more meaningful: a visible act of courage, compassion, and solidarity.
Over 100 people showed up. And in doing so, they sent a clear message to survivors: you are not alone.
And just as importantly — that this community is paying attention.
Moments like this matter. They build courage. They create connection. And they move this work forward. We are already seeing that momentum grow — more conversations, more awareness, and more people stepping forward.

One survivor, Tim DeLude, shared:
“The hardest part of growing up there was being alone. What we experienced — the child labor, the mental abuse, the physical abuse — it felt normal because it was all we knew. But seeing all of you here… I now know I am not alone. And anyone still inside needs to know they’re not alone either.”
Jeanne Cole shared the story of her late sister, who lived there for three years:
“My sister carried a deep loss of self-worth for the rest of her life. What’s happening now — people speaking out, people showing up — this is how healing begins. This is how people finally get the help they need.”
This is what happens when people show up.
And it’s what we’re working tirelessly to expand.
But moments like this don’t sustain themselves — they need to be built on.
To meet this moment, we must expand our ability to support survivors, increase outreach, and continue this work with urgency and care.
